Re: Chris Eubank Jnr vs Liam Smith
agreed, Oldie - the notion that he's chinny is somewhat absurd given that he's been in with big hitting super middleweights and taken their best shots, and just got sparked out by a light middleweight.

Not sure where he really goes from here - as you say, at 33, middleweight looks a struggle, but in the fight against Groves he looked too small for a top class super middleweight.

Re: Chris Eubank Jnr vs Liam Smith
Surprising as most of his contemporaries (Groves/Froch etc) would tell you that Eubank jnr's chin was always one of his greater strengths, if anything Saturday has shown that once you hit your 30's you can't boil yourself down to make the weight and bounce back quite like you did as a kid.

Quite likely the weight cut at 33, after spending the last few years at SMW was the most likely cause, or he's simply not quite got it anymore, lost his brother, dad not around as much, got serious paydays in the bank etc.

Re: Chris Eubank Jnr vs Liam Smith
In truth Eubank was put in his place by a man used to fighting people a class above what he is used to.

When Eubank has stepped up and fought BJS and Groves he has been found wanting. Smith unlike Eubank has been there and done it so where do we rank him now towards the end of his career?

Didn't see the Groves fight so can't comment, but he started really badly against BJS and was all over him in the later rounds,BJS hanging on

Smith caught him well, made a mess of him, not surprised he was all over the place

I only hope those calling any pro fighter a fraud has stepped into the ring competitively themselves to know why they can call them such a thing.....it's a bit of a cunt thing to do otherwise no? Or am I wrong?

I'm assuming comma is also forgetting Jnrs wins against Degale and Abraham when it comes to "Found wanting"

Crassus 6:08 Mon Jan 23
Re: Chris Eubank Jnr vs Liam Smith
Yep but hitherto Jnr has been durable, against naturally bigger hitters
Something is wrong with him, perhaps the weight drop, his preparation, fuck knows but he was not himself or what he should have been

Re: Chris Eubank Jnr vs Liam Smith
It was a great punch that started Juniors down fall but, it's very un Eubank to go down like that. Senior had a great chin, he took the best of Benn, Collins etc and hardly blinked!

You put "found wanting" he hasn't (Until Saturday) been found wanting at all.

Thanks for confirming that when Junior has stepped up he has lost.

BJS, Groves and now Smith. And I am viewing this objectively, nothing to do with whether or not I like the bloke.

BOSH!

Eubank can join Joshua as a fraud

What constitutes a fraud?

"When Eubank has stepped up and fought BJS and Groves he has been found wanting"

He was very unlucky against BJS it was a split decision and at the end there only looked like one winner and it wasn't BJS, there is a reason BJS never gave him a rematch. Groves beat him on points in a great fight.

I get people don't like certain fighters, but the crap some come out with is ridiculous.

Re: Chris Eubank Jnr vs Liam Smith
I bet the weight loss done for the aborted benn fight has a lot to do with it . Roy Jones went up to heavyweight beat John Ruiz . But came down in weight after it and was never remotely the fighter he was and suddenly became chinny .

Re: Chris Eubank Jnr vs Liam Smith
Maybe Eubank would have got to round 8 if he came in at 100%.

This last defeat is different in terms of its manner. Would not surprise me if Senior advise Junior to retire.

Re: Chris Eubank Jnr vs Liam Smith
Yes it was a surprise to me that Eubank clearly can't take a punch. He sprung up straight away twice but was so wobbly the ref had to stop it. Clearly not quite up to his dad's level.

I understand that Pagey but still handled with the class of a typical scouser.

You can still win, be emotional and celebrate without shouting obscenities at your dazed opponent after you have just knocked them out.

Lacks class for me that does.

My lad is up there, Scouse central but the Mancs are not having it, going to get lively
He is now with a Manc crew and Chelsea lads

FFS you never stop being a dad, jump sharp back to the hotel instructions are being ignored - back in central on the lash with that motley gathering

Agree, something was wrong there with Eubank
Froch was saying that he had been in with proper big hitting lads that didn't trouble his chin
Nice combo from Smith but he just folded

Pagey 1:38 Sun Jan 22
Re: Chris Eubank Jnr vs Liam Smith
After the build up and with the way he put Eubank Jnr away, Smith is entitled to celebrate as much as he likes. As if your emotions would be controlled in an atmosphere like that and under that kind of pressure.

Re: Chris Eubank Jnr vs Liam Smith
some harsh words on Eubank here lol. His weight cut for Benn fight could have diminished his punch absorbing. Up till this fight, he was granite chin and the combo wasnt that special so id say that physically he has been affected.

Some are born fighters, some need training.
